No Wi-Fi? Fine. Jump. Duck. Don't blink.

A web version of the dinosaur endless runner
from Chrome’s offline error page.

The dinosaur runs through a black-and-white desert
as the scenery scrolls sideways.

Jump over or duck under obstacles
such as cacti and pterodactyls.

Press the space bar or up arrow,
or click or tap the game screen, to jump.

The down arrow makes the dinosaur duck,
or speeds up the fall when pressed while airborne.

The game gradually speeds up;
hitting an obstacle ends the run immediately.

During development the game used the internal codename “Project Bolan,”
after Marc Bolan, lead vocalist of the band T. Rex.

Developers picked the dinosaur theme
to echo the joke behind its purpose:
with no internet, it can feel like you’re living in prehistoric times.

Players often call it “Chrome Dino Run,” “T-Rex Runner,”
“No Internet Game,” or “Dino Runner.”
