If they reach the bottom, you lose a life. Ammo is not a suggestion.

Destroy the incoming enemy ships before they reach the bottom of the screen.
You control one fighter at a time, and losing a fighter sends a replacement from the cargo ship.
Watch your ammunition — when your fighter runs low, a planned self-destruct can save the remaining ammo.
Self-destruct scatters your unused ammunition so the next fighter can collect it.

Use power-ups when they appear and keep the enemy wave from reaching the cargo ship.
If too many enemies get through, you will lose your fighters and eventually the game.

Tip: Don't wait until your ammo is completely gone. If a fighter is nearly empty, self-destruct at a safe moment so the next fighter can recover the leftover ammunition!
You are captain of the cargo ship Chromium B.S.U., a supply run that never gets to be boring because the front line keeps inventing new traffic. From the relative safety of the hull you fly a chain of robotic fighters. One ship at a time. The screen is a hallway of incoming hulls. The floor of that hallway is your real health bar.

This is an old top-down space shooter with a mean extra rule. An enemy that slips past the fighter does not politely despawn. It hits the cargo ship. You lose that fighter. The next one climbs out of the hangar poorer than you wanted, unless you planned the death.

Strategic suicide is a tactic, not a tantrum. Self-destruct sprays the remaining ammunition into space so the replacement can scoop it. A clean life spent too early is waste. A life spent when the magazines are empty and the wave is still descending is how the next ship inherits a chance.

Power-ups and music tracks come and go. The job does not. Keep the bottom of the screen sacred. Every ship that kisses it is a tax. The WASM port keeps that tax honest on a modern browser: same panic, same cheap victory of a last-second pickup, same moment you detonate on purpose and feel like a quartermaster instead of a hero.
